Today, Glenn & I decided to do the Shrine of Remembrance. Down in the visitor centre, underneath the Shrine, you can watch films & view medals & memorabilia. It tends to focus more specifically on soldiers that came from Victoria, & camps that housed POWs from Germany & peoples classed as "enemy aliens". It was erected as a dedication to those men that fought in WWI, but now men & women from all conflicts are recognised & remembered.

The Shrine is the stage for memorials all year round, not just Anzac day. While we were there, there was a ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean cease fire.
As this ceremony was taking place, I was unable to view inside the Shrine of Remembrance. Glenn said it was very ornate, with a central square pit. Going up the walls were stone carved depictions of soldiers in battle. Looks like I'll have to make another trip to view the interior.

We followed this with a visit to Burch & Purchese in South Yarra. Darrren Purchese produces amazing confectionery, entremets, verrines, ice creams, spreads, etc. Other chocolatiers do your standard chocolates, Easter bunnies, even bilbies & racing cars to mark the Grand Prix in March. Darren has Mr Potato head, a penguin & a rabbit, all made out of chocolate but using circular & oval moulds of varying sizes, rather than formed moulds.
