I've had 2 days off from classes, but go back tonight for 2 evenings of caramels.
In the meantime, my friends Deb & Sharon, with Deb's sister Julie, have been down from Newcastle & we have managed to catch up. Glenn was our chauffeur & thanks to GPS, managed to get us everywhere the girls wanted to go. Stops included St Kilda, for shopping. Unfortunately, the weather was miserable & drizzly (I see Newcastle is in the 20s), so the beach was empty - apart from a few stoic seagulls!
Photo: The mouth of St Kilda's Luna ParkThe Luna Park at St Kilda was actually built approx. 20 years before Sydney's. It occupies a small block just opposite the beach. I don't know, but I would guess Sydney's has more attractions. At the moment, it's only open on weekends.
We then went off to Burch & Purchese, at South Yarra, where the girls were amazed by Darren Purchese's creativity.

Deb works at Bed, Bath 'n Table, so wanted to see the huge store they call The Works, located over Hawthorn way. It has all the manchester & decorative items you find at the normal store, but then The Works has a massive area of kitchen supplies, all under one huge roof.
Glenn then took us to see Channel 9's The Block. It looks smaller than it appeared on the TV. For you "blockheads" suffering from withdrawals, here it is.....

Gotta say, there is a dirty, great telegraph pole sitting to the left front of the units that really detracts from them.
